the hillcity story
Our Journey so far
From January to March 2009, a group of passionate believers, led by Pastor Segun Oke, met at Westown Inn, Toyin Street, every Sunday to pray and prepare the ground for the new church that was about to start.
This set of people became the first workers and leaders at HillCity; and many of them remain active workers at HillCity. The Church was formally inaugurated on Sunday the 1st of March 2009, at Adebola House, Opebi, Ikeja, Lagos; by Rev. Victor Adeyemi (of Global Harvest Church). At inception, HillCity had about 22 members.
From January 2023, HIllCity became 1 church in 2 locations - Ikeja & Lekki. And through several social media platforms, we continue to spread the gospel to the whole world, touching lives across Africa, the Middle East, Europe, and the Americas.
Our Worship Culture
HillCity is a worshiper’s church! Worship is central to any HillCity gathering. Through worship, we express our love for God and enjoy the release of His presence. Apart from the traditional Praise and worship sessions during services; we also love to find new ways to sing new songs, through special worship concerts like “Turn it with Praise”: A Prophetic Praise & Worship Experience.

It does not matter what stage of life you are in, we have various platforms you can plug into and find expression.
We understand the pressures that come with being in the “Single” season but this has not stopped our Single adults from growing spiritually, emotionally, and intellectually; as they prepare for marriage. Through Singles’ Network, they connect and share ideas that promote personal development and flourishing relationships.
In a world where systems and institutions are failing, we believe that the family and the church are the last hope of mankind. We strongly believe in the sanctity of marriage and we cultivate an environment where wholesome families are being built.
Couples Connect is a forum where the married meet in small groups to share valuable ideas about marriage and parenting. We also organize family-enriching events from time to time.
Our children are not left out. The Kid’Zone is every child’s delight, as we combine fun and creativity to bring them into functional relationships with God, in a safe and secure environment.
Our Leadership Team
Building on his formal training as a lawyer, Segun is a Personal Development and Leadership coach, certified by The John Maxwell Team. His forte is practical teachings on life, leadership and spiritual maturity. He is an author, conference speaker and a creative strategist.
Adenrele leads the Family Life Team. She is passionate about facilitating excellent relationships at all levels. She is a certified Marriage Assessment Facilitator & Counselor. Adenrele worked in the aviation industry for about 10 years before transitioning into full-time ministry.
With a Masters Degree in Law, Tomiwa runs a vibrant law firm in Lagos Nigeria. He is also an astute entrepreneur with significant interests in real estate and education. He leads the maturity team at HillCity.
Elsie is a graduate of Economics from the University of Lagos. She is the Head of Communications and Research at a reputable African NGO with global recognition. Driven by her passion for service to God, she has served in various capacities at HillCity over the years. She currently serves as the communications director, Team Leader for the missions team.
A multilingual and versatile consultant, Helen is a member of the Chartered Institute of Administration and the Nigeria Institute for Training and Development. She is passionate about building leadership capacity in Non-Governmental Organizations with a focus on volunteer management in churches.
